Art Friday with the opening of Grada Kilomba's stunning trilogy of film installations, "Illusions". Bar and DJs from the Umeå band Kungens Rider. Free admission.
The exhibition opens at 17.00, and at 19.00 there will be a conversation between the artist Grada Kilomba and director Katarina Pierre, curator. Exhibitions, museum shop and bar is open until 21.00 on Fridays.
In Grada Kilomba's film trilogy "Illusions" we encounter the well-known fables of Narcissus and Echo, Oedipus, and Antigone, reworked and performed by mime artists. Through ancient mythology and colonial history, Illusions speaks of human rights directly into our contemporary times.
Artist Grada Kilomba (b. 1968, Portugal) is based in Berlin. Her works have been shown at art institutions around the world, like the São Paulo Biennale (2016) and the Berlin Biennale (2018) where she was one of the most acclaimed artists. Kilomba's book Plantation Memories: Episodes of Everyday Racism (2008) has been printed in five editions.

Bildmuseet is open all day, but the Friday evening activities start at 17:00. The restaurant offers a light menu if you want to have a snack. The Art Friday will be open until 21:00, and then it is just a short walk to Umeå's nightlife if you want to continue the evening.
