Welcome to an Arctic lunch meet-up where we meet, present our research, and discuss funding and collaboration opportunities
The Arctic Centre invites researchers from all over the University to join our Arctic lunch meet-up! Bring your own lunch and meet with other researchers to present research projects and discuss collaboration and funding opportunities.
Theme: Interreg funding
Join us for a dialogue on Interreg funding and how it supports regional collaboration and innovation. The discussion is open to anyone interested in funding opportunities, regional development, and cross-border cooperation. We look forward to an inspiring conversation!
We invite two guests who will talk about their engagement in Interreg projects:
Ulf Hedestig, Department of Informatics, Umeå University
Involved in two Interreg projects:
ENAIBLER: A collaboration among nine partners from six EU regions—authorities, agencies, and a university—aimed at driving digital transformation. The project helps public sector organizations harness AI to develop more open, transparent, and ethical policies and services.
MINDSET: A partnership spanning three countries that supports policymakers in the Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA) region in addressing regional challenges by adapting Regional Mission-Oriented Innovation (RegMOI) approaches, typically applied at national or EU levels.
Gireesh Nair, Department of Applied Physics and Electronics, Umeå University
Engaged in three Interreg NPA projects:
NoBiCC: Focuses on enhancing energy efficiency in buildings by integrating innovative technologies and methods, aiming to reduce energy consumption and promote sustainable development in the construction sector.
HYBES: Develops hybrid energy solutions to enable buildings to generate as much energy as they consume. The project also explores the integration of renewable energy sources and storage to create a stable and resilient energy system, with particular attention to Arctic challenges.
BGN – Bauhaus Goes North: Seeks to apply the principles of the European Bauhaus movement in northern regions by combining design, sustainability, and inclusivity to create attractive and resilient living environments adapted to cold climates.
The purpose of this meet-up is to get researchers from different faculties and departments to meet eachother and find transdisciplinary ways to collaborate, all under the wide umbrella of Arctic research and funding.
