Ichiro Kawachi is a world leading social epidemiologist within the field of social determinants of population health and health disparities. His research covers macrosocial
determinants of population health (e.g. income inequality, social cohesion), to meso-level influences (neighborhood and workplace contexts), down to the individuallevel
(stress, and psychosocial risk factors). He has made seminal contributions to the literature about social capital and health. He is also the Co-Editor in Chief for the journal Social Science & Medicine as well as for the journal Population Health.
