Contents

Phenomena from many different areas can be described in terms of different types of networks, who knows who in a group of people can be described as one or several networks, how diseases spread from person to person gives another network and the structure of the food chain in an eco-system is also described in terms of a network.

In this course we will look at some of the fundamental models for describing and constructing networks of different kinds, often using randomized methods. After looking at how a network can be constructed we will also study a few models for behaviours taking place within a network, i.e. how a disease spreads or information is spreading in a group of people.
