Contents
The course treats qualitative and quantitative models which are useful to understand and predict properties of organic compounds and mechanisms of chemical reactions where such compounds are prepared. The course has three main topics: 1) Applied quantum chemistry methods for calculation of structure and electron distribution in molecules and ions; 2) Methods to determine the different steps in chemical reactions, that is, reaction mechanisms; 3) Current mechanisms for different types of reactions in organic chemistry.
Required Knowledge
Organic Chemistry (5KE067/68/113, 15 credits), or equivalent.
