Contents
The course covers terrestrial field methodology. General principles regarding the design and implementation of geoecological investigations are addressed. During the course, several fieldwork projects are conducted, primarily focusing on the distribution of various nutrients and pollutants (e.g., carbon, lead, and mercury) in the terrestrial environment. The results from the fieldwork are compiled and presented both orally and in writing.
Expected learning outcomes
After completing the course for the grade Pass (G) the student should be able to:

Module 2. Environmental biogeochemical practice, 2 credits 3 perform and evaluate environmental biogeochemical analyzes relevant to the chosen problem
Module 3. Communicating and presenting biogeochemical research , 8 credits 4 in collaboration with other students present a environmental biogeochemical study both orally and in writing 5 actively contribute with qualified scientific views within the environmental biogeochemical subject area and lead seminar discussions
After completing the course for the grade Pass with Distinction (VG) the student should be able to:
Module 3. Communicating and presenting biogeochemical research, 8 credits 1 summarize, analyze and synthesize new environmental scientific research data in the context of the issues / topics discussed during the course 2 evaluate own data and conclusions in relation to international primary sources (e.g., international scientific journals) in the subject
Required Knowledge
120 ECTS credits including 60 ECTS credits earth science/physical geography, or 60 ECTS credits in biology or chemistry or environmental science and 30 ECTS credits in earth science/physical geography, or equivalent knowledge.
Form of instruction
The teaching consists of lectures, seminars, presentations and field trips. Seminars, presentations, labs and field trips are compulsory.
Examination modes
Examination of the course is in the form of seminars and three manuscripts. On the module 1 and 2, one of the grades Fail (U) or Pass (G) is given. On mudule 3 the grades Fail. (U), Pass (G) or Pass with distinction (VG) is given. For the grade Pass, the student must fulfill all expected study outcomes for the grade Pass. For the grade Pass with Distinction, the student must also fulfill all expected study outcome for the grade Pass with Distinction. Students who have failed in a test are entitled to undergo a new examination to obtain an approved grade (see university regulations). The examiner must not be re-examined for higher grades. In order to be approved throughout the course, all examinations and compulsory marks are required. The grade on the course is a summary assessment of the results of the examination's various parts and is only taken when all required marks are approved assed with distinction. A student that has performed two test for a course or part of a course without getting the grade passed, has the right to get a new examiner appointed, if there are no particular reasons against it (HF 6 chapter 22§). The request for a new examiner is sent to the prefect for the department of ecology and environmental science. A student who has achieved a passed grade on an examination may not retake this examination in order to attampt to achieve a higer grade. To pass the whole course, all tests must be passed and compulsory parts performed. The grade on the course is a combined assessment of all the different parts of the examinations and is awarded when all compulsory parts are performed.
Departures from the form of examination can be made for a student who has a decision for educational support due to a disability. Individual adaptation of the examination form must be considered based on the student's needs. The form of examination is adapted within the framework of the syllabus's expected study results. At the request of the student, the teacher responsible for the course, in consultation with the examiner, must quickly decide on a suitable examination form. The decision must then be notified to the student. CREDIT TRANSFER Credit transfers are always tried individually (See the universitys guidelines and credit-of-transfer-ordinance)
Other regulations
In the event that the course plan ceases to apply or undergoes major changes, students are guaranteed at least three exam opportunities (including regular examinations) according to the rules in the syllabus that the student was originally registered for, for a maximum of two years from the date of expiry of the previous course plan or the course ceased being offered.
