Contents

This course gives an introduction to academic writing and results in a conference paper that is orally presented on a mini conference at the end of the course. The course consists of planning of own work, formulation of a distinct research question, survey studies, scientific writing, review work, oral- and written presentations, and evaluation of own work.

The course is divided into five parts:
1. Project Planning, 1.0 ECTS.
This part a distinct research question/ topic is formulated that is to be addressed and studied during the course. There must be references to previous work. A justification of the chosen subject must be presented.
2.  Survey, 1.0 ECTS.
This part addresses social and ethical aspects in research and development. A questionnaire is created for a survey and the survey answers compiled, evaluated and presented orally and in writing.
3. Scientific Writing, 4.0 ECTS.
This part aims to increase the skills in scientific writing through writing a draft conference papers and a final conference paper.
4. Review, 0.5 ECTS.
This part aims to increase the skill and ability to review conference contributions through assessment criteria, and give feedback orally and in writing.
5. Oral Presentation, 1.0 ECTS.
This part consists of planning and carrying out an oral presentation, and also act as an opponent based on pre-review work.

 

Required Knowledge

For admission at least two years university studies are required, of which at least 15 ECTS at advanced level and 30 ECTS in the main area of Electronics, including Mechatronics, 7.5 ECTS, and Linear control systems, 7.5 ECTS, or equivalent.
Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper Secondary course English A/6. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.
