Contents

During the course the student is trained in specify, plan, conduct and present an individual work. The student applies their knowledge and gained during the studies, and gets immersed in a topic. Through the thesis work the student get in contact with research and development in the field of study. The results are presented orally and in writing. International contacts are encouraged in the thesis work.
The course is divided into three parts:
1. Project Planning and pre-study, 3.0 ECTS.
The thesis starts off with project planning and a pre-study that result in a project plan. Problem definition and project demarcation is done in discussion with the client. Activities within the project, a timetable and method description must be included in the project plan. The project plan must also list available resources and a risk analysis must be included.
2. Independent work, 25.0 ECTS.
The goal for the student is to develop the ability to apply, to broaden and deepen the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies, and to critically review the work of others. Results in this part must be well-founded and documented in a written report. The result should be well-grounded in the scientific progress at the time.
3. Presentation and opposition, 2.0 ECTS.
The goal is to increase the capacity in writing and to orally present results from a major work. The student should also prepare and perform an opposition on another thesis work.

Required Knowledge

For admission to the course at least 180 ECTS, are required as well as at least 60 ECTS at advanced level,
of which 30 ECTS within the area of Electronics including the following courses (or equivalent):
Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, 7.5 ECTS;
Linear Control Systems, 7.5 ECTS;
Modeling in Robotics, 7.5 ECTS;
Mechatronics, 7.5 ECTS;
Student Conference in Electronics and Mechatronics, 7.5 ECTS;
Adaptive Control, 7.5 ECTS or Control Methods for Robotics Applications, 7.5 ECTS;
Telerobotics and Applied Sensor Fusion, 7.5 ECTS.
Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper Secondary course English A/6. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.
