This course is aimed at students in the Master's Programme in Artificial Intelligence. In the course, the student will plan and carry out a computer science project in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) at either a company, an organization or in a research project at a university or college. The student must apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired during previous courses on tasks or problems related to artificial intelligence.
The project must have a clearly defined client and must take place in collaboration with one or more employees at the company / in the organization / in the research project. During the project, the student must keep a diary which is then used as a basis for an account.
Knowledge and understanding
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
Competence and skills
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
Judgement and approach
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
To be admitted you must have a Bachelor's Degree and courses at the advanced level corresponding to 45 ECTS-credits in Computing Science and include courses Artificial Intelligence - Methods and Applications (5DV181), Machine learning (5DV194),
Responsible Design of Interactive AI-Systems (5DV211) or equivalent.
Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper Secondary course English A. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.
The student is responsible for making contact and initiating collaboration with an appropriate client before the course starts. At the start of the course, the student must formulate a project plan together with the client. The project is then carried out together with the client. During the project, the student must keep a diary.
The course ends with an oral presentation of the project. In addition, the student must write an academic report with documentation of the project and a self-reflection on the student's own achievements and lessons from the project.
Teaching, including supervision, is normally given only during the time the course is scheduled.
The examining elements are the project plan (in writing), the diary (in writing), the presentation (orally), and the report (in writing). The project plan, diary and presentation give one of the assessments Pass (G) or Fail (U). The project report gives one of the assessments Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with Distinction (VG). To pass the course as a whole, it is required that all examining elements are passed. The course grade will then be the same as the assessment on the report.
A student who does not pass the regular examination opportunity is normally offered additional examination opportunities during the year in accordance with the university's rules. If the examiner deems that the student must redo large parts of the project that forms the basis for the examining elements, the examiner has the right to decide that the student must instead wait to be examined until the next time the course is given. Such a decision must be notified to the student in direct connection with the end of the course.
Deviations from the syllabus' modes of assessment can be made for a student who has a decision on pedagogical support due to a disability. Individual adaptation of modes of assessment must be considered based on the student's needs. The mode of assessment is adapted within the framework of the syllabus' expected learning outcomes. At the request of the student, the course coordinator, in consultation with the examiner, shall promptly decide on an adapted mode of assessment. The decision must then be notified to the student.
A student who, without receiving a passing grade, has participated in two tests for a course or part of a course, has the right to have another examiner appointed, unless special reasons militate against it (Högskoleförordningen 6 kap. 22 §). A request for a new examiner is made to the head of the Department of Computing Science.
This course may not be included in a degree, in whole or in part, at the same time as another course with similar content. In case of doubt, the student should consult the study counsellor at the Department of Computing Science and/or the programme coordinator for their degree programme
If the syllabus has expired or the course has been discontinued, a student who at some point registered for the course is guaranteed at least three examinations (including the regular examination) according to this syllabus for a maximum period of two years from the syllabus expiring or the course being discontinued
The student chooses their own literature based on what is appropriate for the project.
