This course is aimed at students in the Master's Programme in Artificial Intelligence. In the course, the student will plan and carry out a computer science project in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) at either a company, an organization or in a research project at a university or college. The student must apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired during previous courses on tasks or problems related to artificial intelligence.
The project must have a clearly defined client and must take place in collaboration with one or more employees at the company / in the organization / in the research project. During the project, the student must keep a diary which is then used as a basis for an account.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding After completing the course, the student should be able to:
(FSR 1) demonstrate in-depth knowledge in at least one field of computer science in artificial intelligence.
Competence and skills After completing the course, the student should be able to:
(FSR 2) apply methods in artificial intelligence to a client's problem,
(FSR 3) identify their need for additional knowledge and develop their competence in relation to a project's needs,
(FSR 4) plan and carry out a computer science project in artificial intelligence in collaboration with a client,
(FSR 5) document a project in writing and present a finished project both orally and in writing,
(FSR 6) independently search, analyze and critically examine scientific literature that is relevant to a problem.
Judgement and approach After completing the course, the student should be able to:
(FSR 7) reflect on one's own learning and working methods,
(FSR 8) show insight into the role of artificial intelligence in the project and about people's responsibility for how it is used.
Required Knowledge
At least 90 ECTS, including 60 ECTS Computing Science, or 120 ECTS within a study programme. At least 45 ECTS Computing Science on the advanced level. Proficiency in English equivalent to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.
Form of instruction
The student is responsible for making contact and initiating collaboration with an appropriate client before the course starts. At the start of the course, the student must formulate a project plan together with the client. The project is then carried out together with the client. During the project, the student must keep a diary.
The course ends with an oral presentation of the project. In addition, the student must write an academic report with documentation of the project and a self-reflection on the student's own achievements and lessons from the project.
Teaching, including supervision, is normally given only during the time the course is scheduled.
Examination modes
The examining elements are the project plan (in writing), the diary (in writing), the presentation (orally), and the report (in writing). The project plan, diary and presentation give one of the assessments Pass (G) or Fail (U). The project report gives one of the assessments Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with Distinction (VG). To pass the course as a whole, it is required that all examining elements are passed. The course grade will then be the same as the assessment on the report.
Adapted examination The examiner can decide to deviate from the specified forms of examination. Individual adaptation of the examination shall be considered based on the needs of the student. The examination is adapted within the constraints of the expected learning outcomes. A student that needs adapted examination shall no later than 10 days before the examination request adaptation from the Department of Computing Science. The examiner makes a decision of adapted examination and the student is notified.
Other regulations
This course may not be included in a degree, in whole or in part, at the same time as another course with similar content. In case of doubt, the student should consult the study counsellor at the Department of Computing Science and/or the programme coordinator for their degree programme
If the syllabus has expired or the course has been discontinued, a student who at some point registered for the course is guaranteed at least three examinations (including the regular examination) according to this syllabus for a maximum period of two years from the syllabus expiring or the course being discontinued
Literature
Valid from:
2023 week 26
Literature
The student chooses their own literature based on what is appropriate for the project.
