Contents

The aim of the course is: to develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to successfully participate in the analysis, design and development of large software systems, using object-oriented approaches, and to make the student understand team dynamics by working in teams. The course is project oriented. The students are organized into teams of about five students. Each team works through all phases of the software development process, from project proposal to the implementation of a working prototype. Focus is on object-oriented approaches. Other issues are project management, development of graphical user interfaces, and quality assurance. The work is to be documented step by step in project reports. Methods, languages and tools that support these approaches are discussed and applied.

Required Knowledge

Univ:To be admitted you must hav 60 ECTS-credits in Computing Sciens or 2 years of completed studies, in both cases including Software Engineering, (5DV003) and an introductory course in object oriented programming with Java or equivalent. English proficiency equivalent to IELTS Academic Training –minimum score 5.0 with no individual score below 4.5 (Tests taken before January 2005 not admissible or TOEFL – minimum score 500 on paper based test and not below 4.0 on the TWE, Alternatively 173 on computer based test with iBT61 is also required as well as basic entrance requirements for higher studies in Swedish language proficiency if the course is taught in Swedish.
