Main Field of Study and progress level:
Biology: First cycle, in-depth level of the course cannot be classified
Grading scale: Three-grade scale
Responsible department: Department of Plant Physiology
Revised by: Faculty Board of Science and Technology, 2019-06-04
Contents
The course is dealing with the life processes of plants: Seed germination, plant growth, anatomy and differentiation, metabolism, photosynthesis, stress physiology and flowering. The specific characeristics of plants are introduced such as cell wall synthesis, cell extension, the three genomes, gene regulation, plant growth hormones and natural products. In addition methods of molecular biology used in plant biotechnology such as plant model systems, transformation methods, plant tissue specific expression and use of databases are introduced. The course also deals with different organisation levels from molecular to ecosystem functions e.g. biotic interactions, herbivori and plant chemistry, and how you can use plants as detection systems.
