Contents
In the course theoretical and practical foundations for critical writing as well as the role of written text in contemporary art are introduced. During the course the students work under supervision with writing about their own artistic work.
Course literature is announced when the course starts.
Expected learning outcomes
After completion of the course the student should be able to
Present practical and theoretical foundations in critical writing in relation to contemporary art and own artistic work
Formulate a text in relation to one's own artistic practice
Required Knowledge
At least 60 credits completed courses in the main field Fine arts.
Form of instruction
The course is conducted in the form of lessons, seminars and individual work under supervision. In seminar form and in group supervision the written work which has been worked upon during the course will then be discussed and presented.
Examination modes
The student is examined continuously during the course through assessment in seminars where written work is orally presented and discussed, both individually and in groups. The course is also examined through submission of a written work.
In the course the grade Pass or Fail is given. For students who have not passed the course at ordinary occassion, an additional opportunity for examination is if necessary arranged within three months and one more within a year.
A student who has not obtained the grade Pass at ordinary examination, nor at a re-examination opportunity, has for the next opportunity the right to have another examiner appointed unless certain reasons speak against it. The request for this is made to the board of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Students have the right to be tested on the same syllabus as regular exams on at least two occassions up to two years after the first registration.
The student may apply for transfer of credits for all or part of the course based on previously completed education or professional experience.
