Contents

The course presents different theoretical and practical approaches in contemporary painting.

Expected learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course the student should be able to

  • report practical and theoretical grounds within the artistic field painting,
  • work with different methods and processes within the artistic field painting,
  • during the course present an art work in the artistic field painting, in seminar and in exhibition,
  • in oral and/or written form describe one's own working processes within the artistic field painting.

Required Knowledge

For the applicant to be eligible, he or she must meet the general entry requirements for basic level studies at Swedish universities. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English B/6. Apart from that, the applicant needs to have experience of artistic work which is documented with 3-5 work samples. Form of instruction

The teaching is carried out in the form of lectures, seminars and individual tutoring. Tutoring is done continuously during the course, individually and in groups were the artistic work will be discussed and presented.

The course is in English.

Examination modes

During the course the student is continuously examined by assessing in seminars where artistic work is presented and discussed orally both individually and in groups. The course is also examined in other ways by presentation of an artistic work produced during the course.

In the course the grades Pass or Fail are used. For students who have not been approved at the regular exam opportunity, a further exam opportunity will be arranged within three months as well as a sampling test within one year.

A student who has passed regular examination and a re-examination for a course or part of a course has the right to have another examiner appointed at the next re-examination, if no special reason is against it. The request for this is made to the Faculty of Arts. Students have the right to be tested on the same syllabus as in the ordinary exam opportunity on at least two occasions up to two years after the first registration.
