Contents

The course presents theoretical and practical bases for the contemporary drawing and painting. During the course students work individually under supervision and with tutoring by the teacher to produce their own artistic work with a focus on drawing and painting processes within the expanded pictoral space. The course concludes with an exhibition where all participants get the opportunity to show their work.

Expected learning outcomes

After completing the course the student should be able to

  • present the theoretical and practical bases for a contemporary drawings and/ or paintings and its processes
  • present one or a series of paintings made during the course on the basis of the expanded pictoral space
  • describe your own work processes in drawing and/ or painting within the expanded pictoral space.

Required Knowledge

For the applicant to be eligible he or she must meet the general entry requirements for basic level studies at Swedish universities. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English B/6. Apart from that the applicant needs to have experience of artistic practice documented with 3-5 work samples and a motivation letter. Form of instruction

The course consists of one teaching period in June and one in August with your own artistic work in between. During the two teaching periods attendance is required.The course is conducted through lectures, seminars and individual work under supervision/ individual tutoring by the teacher. The artistic work carried out by the participants is tutored and discussed individually and in the group. Please note that the course may be taught in English.

Examination modes

The course is assessed by active participation in ongoing group tutorials, classes and seminars as well as in the exhibition arranged by students and teacher by the end of the course. The course will be graded Pass or Fail.
