How do you see ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) factors influencing the industry over the next decade?

As I see it, ESG and sustainability will most likley increase in focus in our industry as well as in many others. Within the assurance and advisory practice, regulatory shifts are of course one driving force together with that our clients see investor expectations and increased consumer preferences when it comes to ESG. The regulatory change is to put pressure on companies to integrate ESG into strategic planning and operational activities, to transform the business as well as ensure a proper and transparent reporting according to rules and regulations that gives transparency and comparability in a much better way.

How do you think a double degree program focusing on sustainability reporting and financial analysis prepares students for the challenges of the modern business environment?

A double degree program in sustainability reporting and financial analysis will prepare students for understanding that sustainability and performance are linked together, in many ways. As I see it, the future workforce needs to understand and learn to balance financial targets and expectations with sustainability perspectives and considerations. Understanding what sustainability reporting all is about and what it drives, together financial analysis details, will give them better platform to stand on.

What kind of career paths are available for graduates with expertise in financial analysis and sustainability reporting?

A background in this program will potentially support career paths, e.g., in ESG Analysts, sustainability controllers, sustainability reporting specialists, sustainability accountants and auditors, and Chief Sustainability Officers (CSO)
