The course is conducted in project form. Through self-studies, tutorials, interviews, and participation in the various stagesinvolved in radiotherapy do a risk analysis of the radiotherapy chain. The risk analysis includes risk analysis of informationand workflows and data analysis of the calibration of a linear accelerator. The work will be based in the existing organization in radiation oncology department. Students are expected to identify thevarious information sources, information interpreters and existing control mechanisms. This information is compiled in astructured manner and analyzed. The course includes a number of lectures that provide an introduction to risk analysistool that is frequently used in the sector. Emphasis is placed on Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Action Error Analysis(AEA). The goal is to assess the relevance and adequacies of the control mechanisms implemented today and suggestadditions.

Required Knowledge
University: Radiation dosimetry 15 ECTS, Physics of X-rays 7.5ECTS, Radiobiology and Radiation Protection 7.5 ECTS, Applied Dosimetry 5 ECTS, and Radiotherapy 5 ECTS or corresponding. The two last courses can be studied in parallel with this course. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English A/6. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.

Students applying for courses within a double degree exchange agreement, within the departments own agreements willbe given first priority. Then will - in turn - candidates within the departments own agreements, faculty agreements, centralexchange agreements and other departmental agreements be selected.
