Students are introduced to scientific theory and methods and acquire tools for describing, using and critically reviewing scientific texts and methods. Students also practice verbal and visual presentation skills.
The course covers research approaches and their application to sports-oriented research in medicine and physiology, with a focus on exercise for health and performance. Ethical research issues related to planning and implementing human studies are also addressed and discussed. The course also covers article searches and gathering, processing, interpreting and presenting data based on an objective approach. Students practice the basics of statistical analysis through statistics exercises with the help of the instructor.
