The course provides basic knowledge on radiation biological effects and risks from cells to humans as well as in-depthknowledge of radiation protection of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, Swedish Radiation Protection legislation,international recommendations and practical techniques for radiation protection work. The course includes chromosome breakage and repair mechanisms as well as somatic and genetic radiation damage.Furthermore, methods for personal dosimetry, radiation protection measurements and handling of radioactive substances.

Required Knowledge
University: At least 90 ECTS credits including the courses Radiation Dosimetry 15 ECTS, Environmental Radiology 7.5 ECTS, Introductory Course in Medicine, 5 ECTS, or corresponding. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English A/6. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.

Students applying for courses within a double degree exchange agreement, within the departments own agreements willbe given first priority. Then will - in turn - candidates within the departments own agreements, faculty agreements, centralexchange agreements and other departmental agreements be selected.
