About the course

The course starts with a description of the experiments and ideas that led to the theory of quantum mechanics. The wave function, its probability interpretation and the Schrödinger equation are introduced and applied to one-dimensional problems. The quantum mechanical description of the hydrogen atom and the quantum numbers for angular momentum and spin are introduced. The structure and the properties of atomic nuclei are treated, as well as nuclear reactions, fission, fusion and various types of radiation.
