About the course
The course focuses on preparatory technical and professional research and studies prior to the degree project. Alongside of studies and design research in Synthesis Course 3 and exploration of history and theory in Seminar Course 3b, students shall identify and examine technical, professional, planning, financial, environmental, structural and material strategies that they intend to apply to the degree project. Research may involve communication with consultants or suppliers, material studies, large and small-scale prototypes, field trips to production facilities, meetings with planners and businesspeople, material testing and small-scale preparatory projects that include a 3,000-word research report.
