The course focuses on different kinds of market failures that arise when the conditions for first best socially desirable outcomes in market economies are not met. Different kinds of externalities, public goods characteristics and the problems of asymmetric information are discussed. The course also contains a discussion of pricing of so-called natural monopolies.
90 credits of which 75 credits in economics including 15 credits bachelor courses (G2F). Additionally, Mathematical Economics I D7 or the equivalent. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
