The course starts off with registration and introduction. You need to be registered on the course in the study documentation system in order to be able to follow the course and to get your results registered during the course. If you are unable to attend during the registration and introduction, you need to contact the study administrator Carina Luther in advance, or else you risk losing your place (seat) at the course/programme.
The course starts on Tuesday, Feb 4th at 9:00, when an introduction to the course, its schedule, and all the necessary information will be presented.
All teaching will be in English, and participants will be students from the master programs in public health as well as freestanding students and exchange students.
The course will include lectures, seminars, a leading challenge assignment, and consultation group work around it. The schedule is planned to give time for self-reading and necessary preparations. It involves a mix of theory and practice but is built on practice and operational aspects of public health.
The course has a progressive approach - based on your experiences in the leading assignment, each lecture and all discussion and reflections facilitate a cohesive way of learning - hence attendance in the classroom will be essential. Please be informed that various aspects (especially mandatory) will count towards the final grade. An individual short home exam assignment would need submission on Feb 19th, concluding the course.
The guiding literature recommended is the book, below. There will be additional readings supporting various lectures. All information and communication for the course will be handled via the Canvas platform.
Course book: Leading Systems Change in Public Health – A Field Guide for Practitioners. K. Y. Risley, C. R. Welter, G. Castillo, B. C. Castrucci, C. D. Lamberth, E. C. Pinsker, et al. November 2021
