The course gives an introduction to museology. Museology is the study of the museum as phenomenon, and musealization as practise. The first part of the course gives an overview of the discipline and places it in relation to the global field of cultural heritage and museum studies. The second part focuses on the most discussed problems in the field, ranging from the societal relevance of museum institutions to their history and origins, suggesting diverse selection of frameworks and approaches as well as recent and resonant case studies.
