About the course
The course provides a platform for advanced studies in the field of form theory in connection to transportation design.
Module 1: Experimentations with form (4,5 credits)
This module includes several short practical exercises, where students work to explore form expressions and their semantics. This is done mainly using imagery and physical or digital sculptures. Students are introduced to the relevant working methods and are stimulated to communicate intensively about form.
Module 2: Creative project work (3 credits)
This module includes design and form theory, where students work to analyse and design a product incorporating the form language and references they experimented with during the first part of the course. The results are presented using two and three dimensional visualization material.

Eligibility A Bachelor's degree or equivalent first-cycle qualification comprising of at least 180 ECTS or a corresponding qualification from an internationally recognized university. Specific entry requirements are: 60 ECTS credits in the field of Design. Student must have passed all previous master courses on the Transportation Design Programme at Umeå Institute of Design. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English 6/level 2.SelectionIs only given for students at programme DAITM. Guaranteed place.
