About the course

The course Family in Focus is about family - what it is, what it looks like - a few decades into the 21st century. The course discusses the relationship between family an other parts of social life. Family from a Swedish perspective will be the starting point for a discussion of family from an international perspective, with a slight focus on North America and Europe. Some of the themes that will be discussed are: demographic trends, labour market, paid and unpaid work, "new" forms of family, the role of gender, the organization of families' everyday life.

Family in focus 7.5 credits corresponds to a part of the course Social Policy and family in focus 15 credits. The course may not be included in a degree together with Social Policy and family in focus 15 credits.
