Would you like to study mathematics or mathematical statistics in northern Sweden? We run two master’s programmes, which are taught entirely in English.
We offer a wide choice of advanced-level courses in discrete mathematics, financial mathematics, computational mathematics and numerical analysis, mathematical analysis and modelling, data science, optimisation, machine learning and mathematical statistics, mirroring the research strengths and specialisations of our department.
Umeå University offers a highly attractive academic environment, with modern, top-level facilities and an informal, non-hierarchical academic culture. Our advanced-level courses typically have small class sizes and are taught by active researchers in the field.
The Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics forms a tight-knit community with a highly international and polyglot makeup. And of course our location in northern Scandinavia, and Umeå’s own vibrant vibe make Umeå an attractive place to live as well. Join us!
We also welcome inquiries from students interested in a semester- or year-long exchange in Umeå, or in doing a master’s research project or a research internship in one of our research groups.
