Physiological and biological aspects of diet and nutrition
In this field, researchers are studying how a diet affects various physiological systems and biological parameters, such as for instance substrate utilisation, risk factors for metabolic disorders, hormones, gut microbiota, body composition and cognitive functions.
The research domain also includes how diet, liquid intake and meal planning affects performance and recovery. Randomised controlled dietary intervention trials (so-called RCT studies) are primarily used, but other methods of research can also be found.
