About AI and Art
We aim to situate art, architecture and design practices within the discourse and development of AI technologies focusing on social-political, geo-political, ethical and aesthetic challenges. Research in this field includes:
Facial recognition and algorithmic prejudice
Data feminism
Climate change data sets and visual information
Deep fake synthetic images
Coding and cryptography
Rare earth mining and the shift from global to planetary thinking
Contemporary art, architecture and design practices can produce a discursive and critical space for investigating the philosophies of planetarity, producing antidotes to techno-fetishism by re-modelling pro-growth economics within sustainability debates.
