SSF Future Research Leaders

Deadline: 26 August

Every third year

Are you a young researcher aspiring to lead pioneering research in natural sciences, technology, or medicine? Seize the opportunity to join the SSF flagship programme, Future Research Leaders. 16 researchers will receive SEK 15 million each, alongside comprehensive leadership training over five years. To be eligible, you must have completed your doctoral degree between 2018 and 2020, and work full-time at a Swedish university or research institute during the grant period.

FORMAS: "Klimatneutrala och socialt hållbara kommuner 2024"

Deadline: 4 September

Apply for grants for projects that will integrate climate neutrality and work with social sustainability to speed up the transition work in a municipality or region.

The call will also hold two online information seminars about the call (in Swedish):

Nordforsk: Nordic Research Networks in Preparedness and Resilience

Deadline: 5 September

NordForsk has a call for research networks that can provide a broad knowledgebase for strengthening Nordic preparedness and resilience to future crises. Call budget is NOK 21 million, and you can apply for up to NOK 3 million.

Swedish Energy Agency: Transition to a sustainable and bio-based society

Deadline: 10 September

Now you can receive grants to build new knowledge or develop new solutions that can accelerate the transition to a sustainable and bio-based society. This call from the Swedish Energy Agency covers SEK 70 million and aims to increase the understanding of the role of biomass, bioenergy and the bioeconomy in the energy and climate transition by focusing on system solutions, sustainable value chains and increased resource efficiency.

The Foundation Anna och Nils Håkansson Stiftelse

Deadline: 15 September

Yearly

The foundation "Anna och Nils Håkanssons Stiftelse" provides grants of between SEK 50,000 and SEK 200,000 to scientific education and research that promotes Sweden's forestry, and primarily forestry in the inland of Norrland.

Vinnova: Policy and Instruments for a Sustainable Transition

Deadline: 17 September

Vinnova grants a maximum of SEK 1,500,000 for research projects that provides a basis for, and directly contributes to, policy development that promotes climate-neutral and circular transition.

Nordforsk: Nordic research consortia for EU calls on antimicrobial resistance (AMR)

Deadline: 19 September

NordForsk announces funding for preparatory projects with the purpose of forming multisectoral and transdisciplinary Nordic research consortia to participate in successful proposals for EU calls on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Apply for up to NOK 0,8 million.

Nordforsk: Knowledge sharing and capacity building networks to strengthen Indigenous perspectives in research

Deadline: 24 September

NordForsk announces funding for two to four Nordic knowledge-sharing and capacity-building networks for researchers working with research relevant to Indigenous peoples and/or Indigenous research. Apply for up to NOK 1 million.

Vinnova: Planning Grant for International Proposal 2024

Do you plan to apply for international grants? If so, you can apply for this planning grant to improve your project applications and opportunities for funding. The offer applies to international calls for proposals in any of the following areas; Sustainable industry, Sustainable societies, Sustainable precision health, Sustainable food systems and Sustainable mobility. 

You can submit you application any time during the four application periods, but the earlier the better, since the funding is limited.

KSLA: Support for Innovative Communication Projects with the Aim of Promoting the Green Industries 2025

Svenska Lantbruksveckans fond distributes approximately SEK 500,000 annually to promote projects that raise the status of green industries in society.

Carl Trygger Foundation 2025

Deadline: call not open yet

Yearly

The Carl Trygger Foundation for Scientific Research supports research in the natural sciences that is important for Sweden in areas such as physics, chemistry, technology, biology, ecology, geology, as well as forest and agricultural science. Grants have also been awarded to instrument development in these disciplines.
