Frontiers Planet Prize 2025

Award: 1 000 000 Swiss francs

The Frontiers Planet Prize celebrates breakthroughs in sustainability science, rewarding solutions that show measurable potential to help humanity remain within the boundaries of the Earth’s ecosystem. The acceptance date of the article is 1 November 2022 to 31 October 2024. Nominations are due October 14, send in your nomination to planering@umu.se.

IASC Medal 2025

The IASC Medal is awarded in recognition of exceptional and sustained contributions to the understanding of the Arctic. Nominaitions from all countries and career stages are welcome. The Medal will be awarded at the Arctic Science Summit Week 2025 (ASSW 2025) in Boulder, Colorado (USA).

Nordea's scientific award 2025

Award: SEK 100,000

Nordea's Norrlandsstiftelse annually awards a scientific prize to a successful researcher at Umeå University. The prize is SEK 100,000 and is awarded to researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of scientific research and development within, above all, social science, legal science and data science research areas.

High North Hero Award 2025

Award: Diploma and NOK 50,000

Do you want to honor a person, organization or company who has contributed to highlighting or developing the High North? Nominate them for the High North Hero Award! The award is established by the High North Center for Business and Governance and will be handed out during the High North Dialogue Conference in Bodø as a part of Arctic Congress Bodø 2024.

Frederik Paulsen Arctic Academic Action Award (AAAA) 2025

Yearly
Award: EUR 100,000

The Award aims to further the development of new ideas that could contribute materially to preventing, mitigating, adapting, and reversing the effects of climate change in the Arctic. The awardee will be funded 100,000 Euro to help facilitate the development of ideas and increase impact through outreach, engagement and communication. The recipient(s) will be announced at the Arctic Circle Assembly in October in Reykjavík, Iceland followed by a special reception.

Várdduo's Scientific Prize 2025

Award: SEK 25,000

The nomination is open to everyone inside and outside the academy. The award goes to a person who has made significant contributions to or in research with Sami themes, or who has authored a single significant scientific work in the field.
